Playground Project Stage 1: 2015-2017

Please see below for the first stage of Playground Project, which was being planned in 2015 and was finished in 2017.

 

Phase 1:

PTA has almost enough funding to complete this phase, but we still need some advice on some execution details, so please let us know if you can offer any help.

Cantilever shelter on Infant Playground

Completed!!

in February 2016, cost: £9760.-

After much discussion forwards and backwards, we decided to go for a cantilever design to ensure a better flow on the playground, and to let the provider installed to make sure the insurance is fully covered.

Seating and fitness marking on Lower Playground

 

Completed!!

in January 2016. Total cost: £6,247.-

4  ‘S’ shape rail seats (£317 each), 2  picnic tables with games tops (£433 each) and playground marking for the lower playground – all designed and chosen proudly by our very own Student Council!

  • Painting (murals) : If  you or someone you know can paint the wall.
  • Accessing / supply of materials : Mural paints.
  • General help: Contribute some free time to help us run this project more efficiently and smoothly.

Phase 2:

As it’s all nature materials and possible to be made ourselves, we need your expertise and skills.  The more volunteers come forward, the more money we can save, and the more we can achieve!

  • Building work:  To ensure the structure is firmly positioned on the ground; to create a path between school building and the outdoor classroom.
  • Carpentry: To build the wooden structure of the outdoor classroom.
  • Accessing / supply of materials : concrete for the path? wood for the structure etc.
  • Sponsorship: Become a sponsor by donating a minimum of £50 towards this project.
  • General help: Contribute some free time to help us run this project more efficiently and smoothly.

The school has got a separate funding for this.

  • Carpentry: wooden fence, wooden benches around the trees, tree stumps / tree trunks / sleeper benches within the dome.
  • Accessing / supply of materials : Bamboos for the dome? Sleepers for the retaining wall? Wood for the benches etc.
  • Gardening: Creating the dome structure, bamboo? Preparing the wildflower area.
  • Woodcarvers: Carving sponsors’ names onto the fences at the end of the project.
  • Building work: A retaining wall / seating at the bottom of the bank – sleepers?
  • Sponsorship: Become a sponsor by donating a minimum of £50 towards this project.

 

 

 

Phase 3:

This is a biggie!  As it’s hard to build it ourselves, we need any penny we can save to make it happen!

  • Building work: To ensure all benches are firmly fixed in the ground.
  • Accessing / supply of materials : Wood for the benches etc. Concrete for installing the benches into the ground?

Removed, due to the school’s change of layout for the new classrooms, this idea is currently unsuitable.

We will have to pay for this shelter to be installed professionally, so no specific help required here.
